Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga-Dufferin (HabitatHMD) is a non-profit organization that not only constructs affordable housing for working lower-income families but also runs an innovative Youth Skilled Trades Program. This initiative equips high school students with hands-on construction experience, collaborating with educators and professionals to build fully livable, legal ADUs (Accessory Dwelling Units). The program focuses on real-world training in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and sustainable construction, with over 15 ADUs already built in partnership with First Nation communities. These high-quality, code-compliant units are now available for purchase by local homeowners, with all proceeds reinvested to support future student training and community impact.

The Empower - Model HMD is a 225-square-foot, fully code-compliant accessory dwelling unit featuring a complete kitchen, bathroom, and high-quality interior finishes, built by students through HabitatHMD’s Youth Skilled Trades Program.
